Heartstopper Volume 1 – Alice Oseman

I’m desperate to watch the @netflixuk series, but had this on my TBR pile, so haven’t. Surely we all prefer the book first?!

I was talking to my wonderful niece about it, and she is desperate to read the Heartstopper graphic novels too so I read it for her tonight. I hope she’ll enjoy it!

It’s definitely not my usual type,but it’s perfect for the teenage audience, sexuality aside. I think as allies, we should embrace #lgbtq literature within our personal canons. This is something we should do regardless of age, and Heartstopper is an excellent start.

Volume 1 follows Charlie and Nick and their friendship which looks poised to develop into something more. It’s a wholesome and romantic book, which I really enjoyed. It’s a quick read, and the artwork is used to tell the story as much as the words. Fantastic.
