Magpie has sat on my self since before the summer, but I didn’t have the urge to read it until this last week. I think I needed a certain mood in order to feel dark enough to read it.

Magpie is a subtle thriller about Marisa and Jake, their relationship and their desire to start a family. Everything appears to be perfect until they move a lodger in, and Kate falls into their lives and seemingly destroys things.

I was very impressed by the multiple twists in the novel, and I’m going to be careful to not give anything away. Day is a nuanced writer with a genuine ability to craft something exciting. It’s a compelling book to read, and delves into so much more than a love triangle gone wrong.

I’m going to keep this short and sweet, as I desperately want to keep the twists hidden. If you’re into thrillers with impressive female leads, Magpie is for you.

A worthy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
