Fearless

I went into this final instalment of the trilogy hoping for a satisfying conclusion to Pae and Kai’s story; in that sense, it delivered. Their arc was wrapped up in a way that felt fitting and earned, which I appreciated.

That said, I found this book to be the weakest of the series. It leaned heavily on familiar tropes and felt cliched in places, which made parts of the story drag. At over 600 pages, it was bloated for what it needed to accomplish. I couldn’t help but think it could’ve easily been 200 pages shorter without losing any of its impact. Some sections felt like filler rather than meaningful character or plot development.

Overall, a decent ending for the characters, but not the strongest storytelling. A mixed bag for me.
